The Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) goal is to promote the peaceful use of chemistry, by prohibiting the development, production, acquisition, stockpiling, retention, transfer or use of chemical weapons and to contribute to international security and stability, general and complete disarmament and global economic development. The Role of the EPD is not limited to:
- Reporting on actions taken to achieve national obligations under the convention;
- Facilitating training for local officials in order to help Barbados identify and respond to threats posed by chemicals; and
- Raising awareness about the Convention.
